Just A Closer Walk With Thee

All private home recordings, Waco, TX, 5/17/58.

PRESSING: 1 of 2

HI-LIGHTS: This album was likewise subject to anti-bootlegging legal action. The front cover shows a painting, rather than a picture, of Elvis in an effort to avoid copyright infringement. After all copies were confiscated by RCA, many were sold through the U.S. Post Office with no original covers and a generic white sleeve. This album was the first to feature Elvis in a relaxed home environment, jamming at the piano with friends, giving us such classics as "Happy Happy Birthday Baby", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "Who's Sorry Now". What was once considered unreleasable, unprofessional material, such as these home recordings, actually became the precedent of what was to come by RCA many years after the King's death.

HI-LIGHTS: Includes poster depicting caricature of the 50's King of Rock 'N Roll with the 50's King of Television, Ed Sullivan. Front cover, although not depicting an Ed Sullivan Show appearance, was chosen for its "From The Waist Up" format, and for being one of the earliest known live color pictures of the King, taken at Magnolia, TX on 4/24/55. Like its predecessor, this LP made Elvis' first 3 historical appearances on the Ed Sullivan show available to be heard for the first time since their original broadcast, where Elvis "the Pelvis" was filmed, for the first time, from the waist up. Includes original red sticker.

It includes a 16-page souvenir booklet and inner jackets with unreleased photos from the concert. Cover features rare color picture from the concert with Elvis in gold lame, as well as photos on the gatefold and on the inside jacket sleeves. HI-LIGHTS: Elvis was shooting the scene in "Paradise Hawaiian Style" in which he sings "A Dog's Life" from inside a helicopter, when shooting had to stop in order for the Hillbilly "Kat" to meet, for the very first time, the legendary Welsh rocker "Tiger" TOM JONES! At the time, Jones' current single was "With These Hands", and while Elvis was walking across the studio lot to meet TJ, Elvis serenaded Tom with this song. Jones recollects this to this day, and believes it to be one of the most important moments of his life. Elvis asked Tom, "How do you sound that way?" (black) to which Tom replied "Listening to you!"

PRESSING: 1 of 1

HI-LIGHTS: In a situation similar to the one described above regarding "Viva", RCA never released an actual soundtrack album to the classic 1970 documentary "That's The Way It Is", but only a compilation of earlier Nashville studio cuts featured in the movie in much different versions. This presented yet another powerful opportunity for the bootlegger to release all the songs in their original running order.

The album cover, featuring a photograph from the Aloha show, is unique to bootlegged albums; no licensed RCA material presenting any of the Aloha material has ever featured a photo from the same concert.
