HI-LIGHTS:
This was actually the first pressing to show the alternate, more professional color picture of the King on the album cover as opposed to its original black-and-white design with smaller pictures. However, "Bootleg Elvis" does not consider this to be a first pressing, as the title and content did not change. As the title suggests, contains the complete performance of one Vegas show and one Niagara Falls show, including rare live alternate versions of "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" and "Trouble."

PRESSING: 1 of 7 (1978)

HI-LIGHTS: Although "ERR" would never dispute that Paul "Balls" Dowling was, is, and always will be King of the Bootleggers, he however, in ERR's humble opinion, did not do the definitive Elvis Boot of All Boots, based on material and song content, which we believe to be this one, "Elvis The Entertainer." This album is unique in that it contains material spanning nearly the King's entire career, of which every single song is outstanding. It contains alternate arrangements of "Polk Salad Annie" and "Kentucky Rain" so definitive they must be heard in order to be believed, and the first live release of "Don't Cry Daddy". It was released originally with this blue cover by a California bootlegger, and then reissued with the orange cover (please see below).

PRESSING: 4 of 7* (First of orange cover) (1979)

HI-LIGHTS: This re-issue of the greatest King Elvis bootleg of all time, based on song content, was produced by the Washington bootlegger and renowned Elvis expert Jerry Osborne of "DISCographies" fame, an all-around great guy! Please note that this is actually the first pressing of the orange version, although it does not appear so in "Bootleg Elvis" due to the fact that the title and content remained unchanged.

HI-LIGHTS:
Album art is designed to give the impression of an actual parcel. Most of the material was previously released on bootleg, with the notable exception of "Portrait Of My Love", which appears here for the very first time. An Elvis fan gained access through one of the Memphis Mafia into the "That's The Way It Is" rehearsal studio, as seen in the documentary. Unbeknownst to anyone, he had a hidden tape recorder and sheet music for "Portrait Of My Love." While Elvis was sitting at the piano, rehearsing, this fan implored Elvis to give it a try and placed the sheet music at Elvis' piano, and Elvis obliged while the hidden tape recorder was rolling!

Album contains a varied selection of live material from the Vegas shows between 1972 and 1975, plus at the beginning, the live performance of "Hound Dog" from Ed Sullivan in 1956. Most of the material from the 2/17/72 concert is unique to this album among bootlegs, making this of particular interest to the Elvis collector.

Entire album covers Elvis' last live performance, Indianapolis, IN, 6/26/77.

PRESSING: 1 of 2 (1979)

HI-LIGHTS:  While the liner notes indicate that the three shots of Elvis on the front cover are from his famous (or infamous!) final live concert in Indianapolis on June 26, 1977, this is actually not the case. However, the material contained within the album, as the title indicates, is from that day in all its melancholy nostalgia.

Are You Lonesome Tonight (recorded in Rapid City, SD, for CBS show Elvis In Concert, 6/21/77)

PRESSING: 1 of 6 (1982)

HI-LIGHTS: Right to its very cover design and artwork, this album is themed as an Elvis parody, one meant to showcase not the best, but the worst of the King. With liner notes full of vulgar humor and witty sideswipes and a prominent picture of Elvis dead in his casket, it's to be expected that this one should contain the most embarrasingly bad recordings the King ever produced. Naturally, this is an album not notable for its content, but very memorable for its humorous presentation.

PRESSING: 1 of 3 (1976)

HI-LIGHTS: Cover features a color shot of Elvis during a July 1975 performance; reverse has an album-size black-and-white photo from a June 1973 tour show. This was the first bootleg recording to feature a color gatefold cover (and the second bootleg ever to have a gatefold, the black-and-white "Hillbilly Cat" being the first); it served, more or less, as a prototype to what would come later by Paul "Balls" Dowling and "WorldWideElvis". Contains various television appearances, live performances and undubbed studio masters. This album is unusual in that all recordings are presented in chronological order. The 1969 live recordings are believed to have originated from a mastertape obtained by someone possibly connected to RCA. Includes long version of "Suspicious Minds", performed live by Elvis for the very first time in August 1969 (three months before the single was released, in November).

HI-LIGHTS: Album cover showcases two black-and-white photos of Elvis, one from "Love Me Tender" (1956) and the other from the summer festival at the Las Vegas Hilton (1973), surrounded by a beautiful red border. Side A consists of live recordings from Elvis' first two appearances on Ed Sullivan; Side B contains several studio masters that were only available (legally) as singles from RCA and never included on any LP. It is noteworthy that Brookville Records, a legitimately licensed manufacturer, released an Elvis compilation shortly thereafter; the bootlegger took advantage of this and used the same name for his own label.

All recorded Live in Las Vegas, NV, 8/20/70.

PRESSING: 1 of 1 (1986)

HI-LIGHTS: The reproduction of a 1973 Las Vegas souvenir menu and three movie stills from "That's The Way It Is" make for an exciting front cover. Album showcases the August 20, 1970 Las Vegas Dinner Show, with the exception of "Sweet Inspiration", which was performed at the midnight show. On this rare occasion, "Tiger Man" is performed on its own and not in a medley with "Mystery Train." A true highlight comes with Elvis' surprisingly straightforward but short rendition of Chuck Berry's "Memphis, Tennessee".

PRESSING: 1 of 1 (1985)

HI-LIGHTS: The title derives from a classic Neil Diamond single, "Sweet Caroline", which increasingly became a part of the King's repertoire during his live performances throughout the 1970's. The front cover shows Elvis performing during a 1971 tour show, while the back contains a detailed list of songs and extensive liner notes. The record, which contains the entire live performance from the Las Vegas Hilton on August 26, 1971, includes Elvis singing "I'm Leavin'", his current single at the time, for the very first time, as well as a rendition of Perry Como's chart-topping hit "It's Impossible," which was never recorded by Elvis in a studio. A bonus track is included from a later Vegas show, Elvis' rendition of Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water."

PRESSING: 1 of 2 (1985)

HI-LIGHTS: Single pocket sleeve album cover shows a reddish picture of Elvis reciting the words to "Softly As I Leave You", a shot most likely taken during the actual December 12, 1976 concert in Las Vegas, which is what the record itself consists of. This concert represented the culmination of Elvis' "American Bicentennial" concert marathon, during which he performed onstage nearly every other night. It would also be the very last time Elvis would perform live before a Vegas audience.

Song titles on the back cover are printed on heavy paper stickers the size of a business card, making for a remarkably professional-looking design. It is unquestionable that the Memphis sessions were among the best and most dedicated works of Elvis' entire vocal career.

Inside of gatefold cover consists of a 1974 black-and-white shot of Elvis in his Mad Tiger suit, next to a black-and-white 1956 Wertheimer shot taken during a train ride. Having just conquered New York City, the Chicago crowd reacts wildly to Elvis as he recites a similar repertoire of songs. The second disk on this double-LP set is an incomplete version of Elvis' 1975 performance at the University of Alabama.
